> Is there a specific terminology related to office chairs?
Yes, there are some specific terms:
Armrests: it’s the word used to describe the arms.
Gas lift: This device makes it possible to adjust the height of the seat thanks to a cylinder filled with inert gas under pressure. Thus it is a pneumatic system that also provides comfort by cushioning (except on the lowest position).
Base: it is the feet featuring many stars (generally 5 so as to offer good stability) to be found in swivelling office chairs.
Twin wheel castors: at the end of any of the stars, 5 star bases have castors (normally they are clipped 50 mm diameter castors) made up of 2 wheels that enable a better division of pressure on the floor and thanks to which it is very easy to move. 65 mm Ø castors are suitable to thick carpets and are very trendy now.
Mechanisms: please have a look at the section specially dedicated to mechanisms in our webpage.
